Why would they want to stay in high tax and high cost of living states? People and companies are waking up. High tax states are doomed.

It's not that simple, and the bill is coming due for places that think they can keep attracting people and jobs at a breakneck pace and remain cheap. There will have to be substantially more investment in things like infrastructure and education in order to keep up with all the growth and remain competitive, and that will eventually mean higher taxes in some form or fashion.

Actually it surprises me with our transportation woes and bad school rankings(except for a several counties).

An entire school system can't be effectively ranked, and hopefully most people are aware of this. It's easy to find great individual schools in lower ranked systems and poor schools in highly ranked systems. And even schools with "bad" rankings are often times not actually bad.

Our transportation systems are much superior to all but a handful of American cities, and hopefully most people are aware of this as well.

This is true, but there are still objective measures that give you an idea of what school systems are like on the state, metropolitan, and local levels. And let's not forget the reason why Atlanta was in national headlines today.

Atlanta's rail system is superior to all but a handful of American cities, but Atlanta is also in competition with that handful of other cities and it needs major improvements in other aspects of transportation such as the overburdened, largely inadequate road network.
