Looks like this rift has been resolved as well: http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/n...rty-deeds.html

Quote:
Given the new spirit of cooperation between Atlanta and Atlanta Public Schools, Mayor Kasim Reed said he is willing to transfer 10 property deeds to the school system.

...

The city also stands to benefit because once the schools are sold, they will go back on the City’s tax rolls. Also developers will be able to bring new life to properties that have been stagnant or vacant – sometimes for decades.

What is the background on why the city of Atlanta rather than APS holds the deeds on these properties?

Why didn't city of Atlanta want to give them to APS? And why does APS want them anyway?

Thanks, cq. Do you know when APS took over? I gather from the property list that it was sometime in the 1950s.
