Rail seems to be the most logical choice. I don't care what type of rail it is, as long as it's grade separated. BRT would be a huge slap in the face for Clayton residents, not only from MARTA, but also the state. We were supposed to have rail as of 2006, but we still have nothing. Lots of SPLOST money was spent on redeveloping our city centers for rail and now they're just sitting empty. Best example of this would be at Clayton State where Morrow has built a rail station, parking deck, and a park all in anticipation for rail.

Granted that was signalpriority BRT only and not Grade Seperated BRT.

Maybe that SPLOST money should have been used as the local funding match for the federal grant.

GDOT had the money, they just took too long to use it.

Anyone expecting MARTA to run 10 minute headways (for this line) like the HRT system does is simply delusional.
HRT would be wonderful, but i'm not sure the costs associated with it would make it a viable option. I don't expect 10 min headways all the time, or even at first. GRTA express wouldn't be too terrble, cosidering how much use GRTA gets. I do have trust in MARTA to run a better show than GRTA as far as headways go.

They never used it, the money is still available and I think MARTA will be trying to go after it. The feds had the money ready, it just required a local match, which GDOT never did.

In GDOT's defense, they were busy at the time being a target of Gov. Perdue's attempt to dismantle the department (i.e. the Gena Evans disaster).

It was my understanding that the money was no longer available.
