Atlanta's Shiny Downtown Wheel Impresses At Dusk - Visual Journeys - Curbed Atlanta

I'm curious if anybody knows how much of an attraction it has become? What kind of crowds, etc? Especially after a weekend like this past one? Did lots of Alabama and Virginia Tech fans take a ride? Black Gay Pride attendees? Costumed Dragoncon visitors? Concertgoers?

It looks very out of place and random, excluding the view from COP.

Kind of depends which angle you're looking from. It does look a bit strange in that one pic that shows the wheel behind that building. From other angles, it seems to fit in as well as a ferris wheel can in the middle of a city. Atlanta's buildings are fairly spread out in that area, so there's some breathing room. I don't mind the ferris wheel - it's another option for tourists in the Centennial Park area. However, if they were going to place a ferris wheel there, I wish they would have gone bigger instead of re-locating that particular wheel from Florida.

I see decent crowds on my commute down COP Drive, and I hear the lines are around the block on weekends. I saw this same Ferris wheel when it was still in Paris, and I'm looking forward to riding it this weekend. I'm glad to have it, and I think I works well on that lot.

While I may personally never ride it (I have this thing about Ferris Wheels and amusement rides in general), I think this has a positive for this neighborhood. This is based mostly on the fact that it took away yet another parking lot on Downtown. I'm in favor of pretty much anything that does that.

I have driven by this a couple times on a weekend night and was shocked to see the lines for this thing. I wouldn't pay over $5 per person to ride it, but people are lining up for an expensive view. I'm very happy to see the presence of large groups of people downtown after dark, so far it seems to be a great addition.

Lets see if it lasts.

I wouldn't pay to ride it, and I was a skeptic of the location of it, but I gotta say it is looking quite nice against the skyline. Nice small addition to it. Especially from the right inside the park.

Glad it's there. I hope it stays... BUT............ This IS Atlanta
