Nice bars or clubs for single 30-somethings that don't play horrific music (Decatur: townhomes, live)

I am just over 3 months divorced and a single dad. Haven't been to the kind of bar where you mingle with people in about 12 or 13 years. I'm 35 straight white male.

My issue is that it seems like a lot of these bars play horrible music. There is some music, like "new country/Kenny Chesney type stuff" that I don't like much at all but can deal with as background music. But Rap, R'n'B, EDM, or any kind of music that involves talking in improper English or any song where the actual music in the background (as opposed to vocals) comes from an artificial source like a computer or whatever instead of actual instruments like a guitar is enough to actually make me leave the venue. I really cannot take it, its like nails on a chalkboard and I don't want to look ridiculous complaining about the music or covering my ears but my reaction to that crap (especially the rap and electronic music) is really that severe...

I mostly listen to 60s -early 90s rock music or old country like 50s 60s or early 70s and the like, but I highly doubt any place that plays that is going to have attractive single women in my age bracket lol. This is my first time getting out there on my own (as opposed to being set up by various acquaintances which has been disastrous) and I would like to have a good time. I will try to get my brother to go with me but I might wind up going alone Friday or Saturday.


Prefer in Buckhead or North Fulton but also open to Midtown or Decatur.

Florida Georgia line is horrible, but at least Kenny has a nice voice and not a fembot falsetto like Bruno Mars and there is actual guitars in the background instead of some bunk my son can make on a computer. It's sad that's what I have to settle for when it comes to music these days (at least he sounds like a man and there are real instruments playing)

Probably not what you are looking for, but Northside Tavern is blues bar/venue.

I'm guessing you like a quieter atmosphere, and you can find that in a lot of places - maybe not dance clubs or the trendiest places, but they are definitely out there and pretty common.

Don't worry - you can stumble to the $700,000 townhomes next door and I am sure they can call you a cab.
