Oh yeah, more of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners' stupidity on not being good decision makers and unable to actually do good urban planning...

Not sure they know what that means.

Don't worry, they don't. Otherwise, they would be working with MARTA rather than against it at this point... If they think the Route 10 bus is going to be enough then they are in for a big surprise...

Transit to Cumberland has a simple, very cost effective solution.

1. GDOT build the planned 15th St Bridge over the Connector, with HOV exits
2. Convert the HOV on the ITP portion of I-75, to HOT/managed lanes
3. MARTA run an articulated express/shuttle bus between Cumberland and Arts Center station, via 15th st, and Akers Mill.

Wouldn't even require Cobb to join MARTA, via the existing service agreement which allows some bus operation.

MARTA already runs the 12 from Arts Center to Cumberland TTC via Howell Mill and Northside.

Really, Cobb should be negotiating with both MARTA and GRTA to get Park-n-Ride / Rail Station -> Braves Stadium routes set up for game days.

The Braves are currently in talks with GRTA and MARTA to do just that.

Yeah, but 15th would be a lot closer and more direct to Arts Center (once it is extended west), and the HOV lane can still get backed up at rush hour. Should be a managed transit lane that always moves. Plus it should be articulated bus. And it should be drawn on the MARTA map.

What they need to do is build a Cumberland Transit Center right next to the Galleria, with park&ride decks for Cobb commuters to use MARTA, large bus loops for all kinds of buses to connect and transfer, and with a bridge to the Braves/Battery, plus it's right across from Cobb Energy.

And Galleria already has that bridge to Cumberland Mall, so basically the whole area could be connected by one bus station.

Right here: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8858.../data=!3m1!1e3
Space for it and everything.

That is prime parking space of Braves fans.

I just think Cobb County's needs could be solved without even joining MARTA, if MARTA simply operated some kind of significant, fast, branded, permanent 24/7 rapid bus shuttle transit link type thing between a serious BRT station at Cumberland, and Arts Center, and represented as such as a line on their rail map. The rest of the county would be about getting CCT and Xpress transit buses and a bunch of cars, to the Cumberland node, which would connect them to the rest of the city.

Why should DeKalb, Fulton, Clayton, and Atlanta foot the bill so Cobb County's largest employment center have reliable transit access without some form of funding from Cumberland CID, CCT, or Cobb County?
