Bad idea. It imo should be either at 17th St and Northside Dr, on Dewberry site at Peachtree and 12th St, somewhere in Buckhead or somewhere downtown near the hotel district.

I think placing it next to the Braves new stadium is ideal. That way people can gamble for money or gamble on how bad traffic will be.

I feel like casinos can bring a really bad element.

I can't say I am crazy about it.

It seems like they have spent a ton of money turning downtown into a tourist spot already. Would this help?

Florida, Georgia and Tennessee Casino Legislation Updates | Casino Gambling News : CalvinAyre.com

Interesting stuff here.

Quote:
GEORGIA
Across Florida’s northern border, Georgia legislators have introduced a constitutional amendment to overturn their state’s ban on casino gambling. Given that there’s only one week left on the legislative calendar, the amendment is DOA. But a companion bill would create a study committee to consider the casino proposal while legislators are off on holiday. The end game is to have the amendment question on the November 2016 election ballot.

Getting the amendment on the ballot would require a 2/3 vote in both legislative bodies. Assuming the amendment passes, local referendums would be required to ensure host cities were on board. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has publicly expressed his disdain for casinos but a January McLaughlin & Associates opinion poll showed 57% in favor of casinos. The casinos would be expected to collectively provide $250m to the state on an annual basis.

The casino proposal envisions carving up the state into five zones, with a maximum of six casino licenses divvied up between them. Anyone wishing to build in Atlanta would have to invest a minimum of $1b although a second smaller casino would also be permitted in the Atlanta zone. Casinos outside the Atlanta zone would require a minimum $200m investment.

Which corner though? Instead of the Sushi restaurant or Dancing Goats?

Can yall imagine the MGM Grand in Vegas in Downtown Atlanta? With all those stops, restaurants, clubs, etc. That would be crazy considering Atlanta had more visitors than Vegas the past couple of years.

MGM GRAND....IF YOU ARE READING THIS POST. THE KING OF ATLANTA WANTS YOU TO KNOW.....

- Don't just promote it as a casino promote the entire MGM Grand experience to Governor Deal
- We had more visitors than Vegas so you can build the same equivalent in Atlanta with ZERO competition.
- Have all the stuff you have at your Vegas location to include all the stores, clubs, restaurants, etc.
- Again, promote the entire package. The over 4k hotel rooms, shows, restaurants, etc. You all would shut the Atlanta hotels down the first day you open.
- And just don't throw together some bs. Have it so nice like the one in Vegas that the Gov has to approve it. Kind of like the Ga Dome. Once people saw the photos of the new stadium everyone forgot about the Dome. The same can happen with this

Downtown needs to be a neighborhood. Not just a destination.
Downtown in every city is the central business district as well as some residential. I mean I hope you were being silly.......
