Though I have little doubt if casino comes its going downtown.

The only way I could ever consider getting on board is if there are serious tax incentives for the city of Atlanta specifically, something in the way of quality of life improvements for the city, ie capping the connector, park improvements, public use improvements, thus countering the negative effects a casino tends to bring

Its gonna pass I think because if not they would have said so on yesterday like they did with MARTA. Its gonna pass because the lobbyist have been working overtime paying off everyone. Its not even an issue I think if its gonna pass or not but where is the revenue that is going to go to the state going to go

I don't see it being any different than making alcohol illegal because a percentage of the population makes bad decisions around its use.
And what's with the statement that Georgia shouldn't legalize but should keep sending patronage to Alabama and Mississippi? Why should we let a potentially significant source of revenue cross the state line?
Your friends aren't grandmas hooked on gambling. have you ever BEEN to a casino? It's awful. Yes we had fun a few times and Vegas perhaps every country needs one Vegas but...no, just no. It is a net negative overall. Your friends are probably responsible. For every 1 of them there's hundreds of people casinos are not doing any favors for. And don't even begin on the jobs argument. The space for a casino would be better served by almost any other use I can think. In fact, I can't think of a worse use of space for a city. I mean for a commercial property. I really can't. Thinking of casinos descending on Savannah makes my stomach hurt.
