I keep going back and forth on this idea. I won't be upset either way it goes, but I think my preference is to no casinos right now.

The most important thing is that the state gets a ton of money in taxes. What I have seen, they really don't get much. There's no reason we need to give a discount on the tax rate. The state is granting access to a resource by allowing these casinos. They should state the rate and it should be high.

The only place a casino would work, in my mind, is somewhere right around Phillips. It would be disruptive elsewhere. In the gulch, it will fit in just fine.

Of course, an MGM sponsored casino might be a very different beast. I admit I don't have a clue in that regard.
The island in Savannah River would be an ideal spot.

They can build the casino, but it REALLY REALLY shouldn't be downtown. Put it near Savannah, or by the airport, but somewhere other than Downtown.

No thanks. We got enough crime here. NIMBY huh? You want it you build it where you are. Why don't you want it downtown?

I had thought it was a neat idea once upon a time.. I read about casinos and their effects though. As cool a show as it would make..Boardwalk Empire: Savannah, not needed!

I am curious about it now too that I read this update. I was in the casino business for years. Just like any other job it had its ups and downs. It's not for everyone but it was for me
Looking forward for any updates.

I'd rather not have any casinos, period. It's a tax on the poor and the elderly. Other Deep South states, Mississippi and Louisiana, have legalized riverboat gambling, but I don't feel that they've seen any net gain from them.

If you are against casinos you also gotta be against alcohol, weed, cigarettes, porn, cheating on your taxes, sex b4 marriage, speeding, playing on the internet at work, etc.

Stop being against one sin but not being against other sins
