Varner Elementary / McEachern High. Not too far from Macland Rd and Hillgrove district. My oldest kid is in 3rd grade so McEachern vs Hillgrove isn't important to me right now. Especially since with the growth there, redistricting will occur.

Congrats!

I like the Varner area a lot. Beautiful, tranquil, bucolic, and low-key.

And Varner has similar socio-economic demographics from where you moved (Nickajack, King Springs, etc).

You made a great choice for your family.

And I'm sure you know the history from about area from 9 years ago--most of Kemp was proposed to stay in the McEachern cluster. Lost Mountain was going to continue as a 30% feed to McEachern.

This was the plan until Earl Ehrhart and a few vocal Echo Milliens got involved and manipulated the process.

Yeah, that was part of our choice. Varner isn't as diverse as we are used to, but Tapp and McEachern definitely are. Still, Varner is more diverse than Kemp, etc.

I also like being closer to Powder Springs. It's diverse and I think it has a historic sense of place and is really cute. Sense of place is important to me. Being a short drive to Wildhorse Creek Trail and that new water park thing is nice too.

The few, obnoxious vocal people from the Echo Mill mega-subdivision.

Earl Ehrhart lived there as well during the redistricting controversy when Hillgrove and Lovinggood were built. I'm not sure if he still lives there with his family.

The way redistricting is supposed to work is to avoid splitting up subdivisions, try to even out demographics, try to make bussing efficient. If anything else happened (sounds like it did) then there was manipulation going on. As more is built out there, one subdivision will have less pull.
