I don't see that kind of thing happening now in Cobb. Maybe in Forsyth county.

I'm hearing people talk about grade separation and barriers as if both are needed. Barriers seems to be all that's needed. The initial renderings Cobb did didn't have the barriers, and that's a problem.

True. And they're deliberately shooting themselves in the foot with this. Lee wants it to serve Cobb Co. residents without consideration for commuters in bot directions. He wants it to be cheap, and so waters down an already watered down plan to the point where instead of an expensive project, he gets a waste of money.

I want this project to fail at getting the TIGER 7 grants. I want it to be voted on and then fail at the ballot. I want them to chose a project that will actually work, suck up the fact that it'll cost money, and build something useful. Do that, or let MARTA do it and quit complaining.

I know that I mean more of an 'either/or' scenario. As in, either it needs to be grade separated, or it needs its own travel lane separated with posts/curb/etc.

I was referring to the idea that Cobb always was very deliberate and smart in its dealings. Acting like homophobes and embarrassing the region like they did with that incident probably wouldn't fall into that category.

Tim Lee seems to be trying to design a system that only deals with intra Cobb traffic.

Yes, and so does the new concept. It continues on to the Art Center and in fact they envision a Northside / beltline stop AND ab Atlantic Station stop. Obviously can only use the commuter lanes for that final leg until Atlanta builds LRT or BRT on Northside Pkwy.

Intra-Cobb traffic, however, is the bulk of trips in Cobb County so it makes sense to invest in a Cobb-centered approach to transit.

Translation: We're trying to be as cheap as possible while making it look like we somewhat care about transit.

Fortunately, I don't see the FTA giving TIGER funds to this mess.

They gave it to the Atlanta streetcar!

Intra-Cobb traffic can be serviced at the same time as commuter traffic in and out of the city/other counties. The real problem is that, without proper connection to other existing High-Capacity Transit, the FTA is going to be hesitant to approve funding for Cobb, especially when Atlanta is competing for TIGER 7 funds for a streetcar expansion.

Without that funding, the project is neutered into the que-jumping form that Lee has been talking about most recently. The original BRT that was going to come down Northside as you were saying, isn't really the plan anymore, since it was the dedicated lane plan.
