If you want to honor somebody do it with a statue, pocket park or something less disruptive.

And if you do rename a street, keep it simple. It's absurd to use first, middle and last names (plus Jr and Sr) every single time.
I kind of like living on Hosea L. Williams Dr. It really makes customer service help on the phone interesting.

Apologies if I came off that way. City Hall only gives a crap (and has since Andrew Young was mayor) about the here and now regarding the city's historic place names, hence major downtown streets being recently renamed for non-dead Atlanta power figures (Hill, Portman, Turner, and honorarily Clayton). Activism is not in their cards.

Ha, that is funny, cq!

Seriously, why do we have to use multiple names? What's wrong with Williams Drive or Hosea Boulevard?

In the past we got along fine with just giving streets one name.

I agree! A surprising amount of our other streets are named after people too, but it is just one name and it sounds much more normal.

I also don't like the erasing of history of some of the streetnames.

For people who have been around for a long time Spring Street has always been Spring Street.

Streets can have overlay names. E.g. they can have it still be Spring St officially but dedicate it to Ted Turner and add his name to signposts. I think Harris st has some dedication iirc, if you look at its sign from Courtland St.
