Marta rail already connect directly to the Airport from Downtown. If you are talking about the rail that connects with the College Convention, hotel, and rental center. That particular rail was never meant to go Downtown.

It's definitely an option on the table for consideration. About the same priority as, you know, introducing you to google, syntax, a transit map or hitting you in the head with your own keyboard.

Two for one special: google maps.

They already did. It's called MARTA, and there's a stop right at the main terminal. The Plane Train/ATL SkyTrain will never be expanded downtown.

So, there's MARTA, the regional transit agency, who runs Heavy Rail Transit in a big cross through the city and metro. The current southern most station is the Airport (Hartsfield Jackson), which is in/at the terminal.

Then there is the plane train, which is an automated people mover running in a loop under all the concourses, within the airport. You can only use this after going through security/customs.

There is the sky train which is also an automated people mover which serves the terminals, the rental car lots, Georgia International Convention Center, and some hotels.

In the city there is the Atlanta Streetcar, which is a streetcar loop that serves tourist locations/ job centers/ residential areas downtown, and is being expanded to provide further reach.

That's all the fixed guide way transit we have so far...
