I know this is sarcasm, but I doubt that would ever happen today, especially since Cobb is only 60% white. People there are fairly used to a mix of colors.

New development already started around it (probably 1/2 due to the Braves' mixed-use) will have paid it back in 5-10 years of taxes. Investors who had tunnel-vision towards the 400 cooridor now are paying attention to Cobb.

That's true. Even the Airport station (despite being physically in Clayton County) is on City of Atlanta land. The Cumberland CID is an unincorporated part of Cobb County, completely under the jurisdiction of the Cobb County Commission.

What I can see happening is the Cumberland business lobby pushing the General Assembly to amend the MARTA Act to allow them to join on their own instead of waiting for Cobb. Maybe an amendment that would allow "incorporated municipalities, tax allocation districts, and community improvement districts that are contiguous to a member jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority" to join the agency without having to receive county approval or hold a countywide vote.

This all sounds great and all, wishful Cobb thinking- trying to help our fellow neighbor. However, at the end of the day, sucks to be in Cobb.

Actually Gwinnett County is on track to become a future cesspool far sooner than Cobb. Large swaths of Gwinnett have low-income to low/mid-income housing with home builders still building in that price range. Compare that to Cobb where almost all new housing development is mid to high end. Cobb is also seeing more redevelopment of aging housing and commercial parcels. Tear-downs are common in East Cobb and Smyrna/Vinings. That being said I think Cobb should place a moratorium on garden-style apartment complexes and extended stay motels as those types of developments that were built in the 70's are the same one's the county is grappling with now.

Besides, as long as DeKalb and Clayton are around, neither Cobb nor Gwinnett have to worry about finishing in last place.

In 5 years, people who don't live in Cobb will still be complaining about Cobb

Why is Clayton County considered ghetto but Carroll County isnt? Or whatever county Conyers is in?? Just FYI Ghetto isn't synonymous with black people.

I agree that, by definition, it shouldn't be, but it is (or, at least poor blacks). Kinda like how Trailer Parks are synonymous to poor whites despite plenty of poor Hispanics living in them too (Or despite the fact that there are 'upscale' trailer parks that aren't too bad to live in).

This is visible in plenty of circles of talk of all races and income levels.

In 5 years Cobb will still be the mess it is today. Just with worse traffic.
