It was with great sadness that I learned that President Carter has been diagnosed with liver cancer that has spread to other organs. Regardless of your thoughts on his term in Office, he is undoubtedly a great humanitarian who has worked tirelessly to better the world.

Years ago I attended a speech he delivered. Emory's president introduced him by saying that President Carter is one of the very few people who used the White House as a stepping stone to greater things. I thought that was a wonderful compliment.

My family has known his family for over 75 years (10 miles apart), and they are good and caring folks.

Anyway, please keep him and his family in your thoughts, and if you are a religious person, in your prayers as well.

On a positive note, he made it to 90, which is about the best we humans can expect. Wishing him and his family all the best.

I'm saddened, too. Whatever happens, he will handle it with his characteristic grace and dignity. Peace be with you, Mr. President.

I have adored Jimmy Carter since I was old enough to know about him.

He was the most honorable man to ever grace the Presidency.

He is one of the best and most honest Presidents we've had. I have always admired this wonderful and kind man. Despite his detractors, he continued to keep going forward even after his presidency ended and it wasn't all about greed and money. He dedicated himself to making the world a better place.

Sad news. Jimmy is a great man, but his presidency gets a bad rap. Unfortunately being humane is not an endearing quality to a major portion of this nation.
