Good, parking isn't free. If people REALLY want to find free parking there is a lot of on-street parking within a 5 minute walk of PCM.

Which will have the greatest impact?.... The answer... None of the above. Suntrust Park & surrounding development will have a bigger impact than all of these projects in 5 years.

I don't have a problem with a casino downtown (not at Turner Field).

If done properly, it can be a nice edition that will give conventions, tourists, and locals yet another attraction to go to. It will also contribute to helping Atlanta be a 24hr city.

The "safety" issue is unfounded fear-mongering at best.

Hell, the MGM Grand Detroit is in downtown and does not have a safety problem. The Motor City Casino was built next to a housing project and is completely safe. Greektown Casino is also a very safe area that is actually a couple blocks from Police HQ.

The point is that Detroit is probably the most dangerous city in America, but yet somehow its patrons (including myself when I visit) have minimal problems with safety and "unsavory characters". These places and the areas surrounding them are usually very well secured and surveiled.

They understand that if people fear for their lives, they are less likely to visit your establishment to spend their money.

I don't think that the moral issues should matter either since not everyone has the same beliefs. If people want to **** away their money, that's their business. They would do it whether there is a casino or not. How many people already play the lottery or illegally gamble anyway? Don't put YOUR beliefs on others. If you believe they are immoral, simply DON'T GO!

Another thing. Casinos are not ALL about gambling. I visit the Ignite Bar at the MGM Grand Detroit specifically for dancing, drinking, and sushi. The buffets are great as well. About 90% of the time, I don't even gamble when I go to MGM.
