They already have a large presence in Alpharetta. Posturing in getting tax breaks from state.

Personally, I'd like to stop the influx of people to Atlanta. I'd like to be able to drive once in a while without heavy traffic.

Or rather...Expand the public transportation options that a metro of nearly 6 million people should have anyway.

Well, I think the concern is valid.

This is an area of Buckhead that is served by public transportation already, but we can't pretend that adding something like this wouldn't worsen already terrible conditions on nearby surface streets.

Unfortunately, local residents sometimes have to rely on the same streets to get daily activities done. You can get around them for some things...but not everything. I remember what a hassle it was for me to get to anything south of Lenox when I lived there that I generally opted to head north instead. The mileage was further, but the headache factor less. For some that live south of the mall, it's not as much of an option.

Mass transit is necessary, but it doesn't solve every problem. Particularly last mile issues for people who already live in the area. You don't take MARTA to Petsmart, Publix, etc. when it is 2 miles away.

I wish they would implement some type of actual transportation plan for Peachtree. Putting a median in didn't really help...I don't know why anybody thought it would, or if anybody actually thought that.

Different experiences, I guess, but I like that median and feel like it helps a lot.

Traffic in the Lenox area is heavy at rush hour so I just try to avoid peak hours.

The rest of the time you can scoot around up there pretty easily.

We all know that isn't going to happen.

No, ideally you could walk or ride a bike for trips, even shopping, of 2 miles.
Peachtree currently has transportation, "The Peach' runs every 10-15 minutes during peak times. MARTA - Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Also, some Buckhead businesses and residents are fighting fixed transportation and bike lanes along Peachtree Rd.

Really?

Why don't you explain to me how to walk or ride a bike 2 miles to Petsmart to get my dog her 28 lb. bag of dog food?

Or how to bring my milk, soda, and meat back from the grocery store on foot or bike?

Especially recently. Where it has rained every afternoon.

Your advice simply is not practical.
