I might be insulated, but I have never met anybody in my entire life who has ever used this. Maybe they are out there, but the fact remains that once you introduce a second layer of transit required to access something, it makes it much less accessible. It's a big enough pain where most people would just rather drive, unless you don't own a car.
The shuttles are constantly packed full of people. I am shocked you don't know someone who has used the free shuttle and instead opted to pay for parking.

They aren't, they're single-track with passing siding most of the way and not NS's busiest route. Full double tracking would provide more than enough capacity for commuter rail and freight to coexist.

You can imagine how useful they would be to connect to MARTA, which follows the same tracks...
Yes I can, which is not at all. MARTA's existing trains are legally prohibited from sharing tracks with the freight network so the best that could happen is to simply use the right of way, but as I stated above, heavy rail to Suwanee is the wrong mode.

But even aside from that, imagine what it would do up here. If you could hop on that train and get to Duluth and Norcross, which both also have downtowns RIGHT ON THE TRACKS. It's such a waste that only freight trains and Amtrak use that track.
Yes, hopefully one day we'll get commuter rail service as far as Gainesville and possibly regional service as far as Charlotte.

Unless you're coming from some place the Red and Gold lines already serve or coming from the Blue Line, most people are better off driving especially on the weekends. For someone coming from Gwinnett for example, they'd have to drive all the way to Doraville, get on the Gold line, then get on the shuttle. By the time they park and get on the train, they'd just about be in Midtown if they kept driving. Until we have more transit reaching farther, Atlantic Station (and most of Downtown/Midtown) will be reached primarily by driving simply because driving is far faster.
