Total Cost: About $6.9 million per mile of track. Now...add demolition and construction costs.

You misspelled "parking deck, acres of new green space, removal of parking lots, new entry, and restaurant". But, that's okay...we knew what you meant.

Combine both these and you could build the whole Southside Beltline as well. Total cost is expected to be ~$70-90M.

Car infrastructure is just too expensive to keep subsudizing.

Our lack of transit and walkability is not a lack of money. It is a lack of priorities.

I can’t wait until the beltline is a complete corridor unto itself. I mean when most of the developable areas are built out with all of the residences, restaurants, retail, and offices without ever needing to walk on a road.

Yea, it sucks that the backbones of this country's transportation system aren't just going to give up a mainline to be a trail.

No one is really asking them to give up the mainlines. Heck, in this case, no one is even asking them to share track rights.

The railroads can be needlessly slow and stubborn when it comes to matters of parallel and shared rights of way, though, whether that be for transit or the path.
