Can you move a big brick house like that without it crumbling apart? I think the place would be a fab restaurant. I remember when the Mansion and Abbey were in business. Those were very cool restaurants back in the day.

The brick was stripped from the Randolph-Lucas facade before they moved it.

Thanks for mentioning. Found several articles about it. This one, I thought, was interesting. I'd forgotten all about the house's move.

Maybe this is just my opinion, but if you have to practically dismantle and strip a house in order to move it, it's not really the same historical house any more.

On this move, all of the bricks and slate roof were restored and reused. But, I do kinda get what you are saying.

The elements are all still there and intact, however. Many an historical building has been successfully relocated and restored, and there are experts out there that are trained to do it, even employing construction techniques of the period to accomplish this.
It sure as hell beats the alternative, which in this case is oblivion.

For-profit online university Herzing University moving from Buckhead to historic Hurt Building.

“Downtown Atlanta is rapidly evolving, and major companies and universities are taking notice,” said JLL leasing associate Claire Ross. “Herzing’s move from Buckhead to downtown is part of a larger transformation that will reshape how Atlantans experience the city and position downtown Atlanta for long-term growth.”
