It really is funny. It would be funnier if he wasn't so badly hurt-but he did survive.

He had to have been really, really wasted.

Thank you for that, cqholt.

It appears that late this morning the family began to walk back her earlier statements. The Facebook assertions of the mother have been gone now for a while.
A "train" is not necessarily specifically a MARTA train.
Furthermore, there are many freight tracks in the huge rail yards immediately adjacent to the Puritan Mill facility where the student was partying.
Further developments may clear up whether he did the freight train jumping near the party venue site at Puritan Mill or whether he did it near where he was found, miles away over on the east side of the city.
If one makes strong statements/assertions, whether it be in the general media or here on the forum as in via thread creation (as was initially done with this story), be prepared to have a solid basis underlying your statements that support your position with facts. If you are later proven to be wrong, own it & admit your error.
Why is the concept of personal responsibility for one's statements so out of fashion?

On weed huh? You don't typically jump onto moving trains if you're looking for weed. If anything, his best bet for getting any would have been to party, not a freight train.

Probably just drunk off your run of the mill college party booze and felt like showing off.

According to CBS:

Quote:
MARTA and Atlanta police confirmed Hubert was not riding MARTA that evening.

A source told CBS46 Hubert, whose nickname is reportedly 007, jumped off a bridge -- like James Bond in the opening scene of Skyfall-- onto a moving train, believed to be a CSX train.

Apparently the entire incident was captured on surveillance video which is now in the hands of police.

Hubert was found on the CSX side of the tracks. His shoes, we are told, were placed next to his body.

ooh that's a good hypothesis. I'm waiting for the dirt from my favorite CSX trackman. I will share what I learn.

He probably told his mom "last thing I remember was hopping on a train"--and he wasn't lying. . .exactly. We've all told our parents these sort of half-truths in our younger days.

Well, I bet he has ridden a MARTA train at some point. If he hadn't, then events would likely have unfolded differently and he would never have jumped off the bridge onto the train. As a result, it IS, in fact, MARTA's fault.

LOL!
Or maybe we can blame "007's" (the kids nickname) injuries on the train jumping scene at the start of "Skyfall".
So, really it's the fault of the movie "Skyfall" & more specifically Daniel Craig.
