Looking for a neighborhood in North OTP. What cities have the best resources or services. Fire Dept., police dept., trash pick-up, economic mgmt., road maintenance etc. Also, what cities have restrictions from building a fence or other restrictions one may run into? We are looking to buy a home and would need to enclose our yard for dogs and hopefully children in the near future.

I don't think there's a whole heck of a lot of difference between towns for the things you mentioned. There's no shortage of police and fire coverage in the area, roads are fine and well maintained( unless you are talking about snow removal?) , governments are fiscally conservative, and homeowners contract for their own trash pickup unless you have an HOA that requires a specific company.

Milton requires a specific fencing style, but not the use of a specific company to build it. Outside of this city, I've seen every type imaginable.

Agree although in Smyrna, trash pickup is via the city. Homeowners don't individually contract. This may be true in some of the other towns.

Here is an example of what the city of Smyrna requires a permit for - I expect this is similar in most areas

What building activities require a permit?
A:
Permits are required for all new residential homes as well as new decks, new roofs, remodeling, accessory structures (sheds), pools or replacement of mechanical equipment. Permits for commercial projects are required for interior tenant remodeling, replacement of mechanical equipment and new buildings. Permits are also required for residential and commercial land disturbance, as well as removing trees on commercial property

HOA are likely to be more restrictive than the individual cities/counties
