I have recently relocated to Atlanta, with family now further south in Covington. Will be working inside the perimeter, so Conyers/ Covington is out as far as an apt goes. I'm thinking Union City or Fairburn. I have already read the horror post about Riverdale, although I have seen some very nice Townhomes there. I'm single so I need a safe neighborhood. Also, anyone know of office work/ mgmt let me know. Does anyone have any ideas of those areas.

Do you yet know where (what neighborhood or district) in Metro Atlanta you will be working?

If you are limiting your job search to just the area inside of the I-285 Perimeter, you are ignoring a very large and critically important part of the Atlanta metro and North Georgia job markets.

When looking for housing as a newcomer to metro Atlanta, your best option is to look for an area to live that is as geographically convenient to work as possible.

I would recommend landing on 10/28, its not that busy of a runway and will give you time to taxi.

Yes, I'm looking at Alpharetta and surrounding as well. North Fulton has a lot to offer as well. I've heard warnings about Clayton County, but will be looking at something in Riverdale close to Jonesboro this weekend.

Can you give us information like budget, if you're interested in strong schools for a possible future family, etc? It would make it a lot easier for us to assess where you may want to look for.

In other words, you don't have employment locked down and don't yet know where in metro Atlanta you will be working.

If you land employment in North Fulton County, then try and find someplace to live in North Fulton County close to where you will be working.

If you end up working in Clayton County or South Metro Atlanta then try and find someplace to live close to your job location in South Metro Atlanta (Clayton, Henry, South Fulton counties, etc).

If you end up working inside of the I-285 Perimeter, try and find housing inside or not-too-far outside the I-285 that is generally close to where you will be working.

Just try and find housing that will be generally somewhat close to where your job will be located so that you do not end up with a long and miserable commute to and from work each day.

After you have secured employment and know for certain where in Metro Atlanta you will be working, feel free to come back to City Data to inquire about where to find housing close to where you will be working within your budget and one or more of the friendly, informative and helpful Atlanta forum contributors will be more than happy to help you find a place to live close to your job.

Thank you. I am concentrated on Fulton North, Fulton, and in the city itself. All the second interviews are in North Fulton. I will have an answer next week, and I will return. I appreciate your help.
