Interesting to hear property owners weren't keen on it, I would assume the exact opposite.

Apparently the owners of the Buckhead Loop shopping center don't want to lose their visibility from 400.

What shortsightedness on their part.

That entire complex is a lesson in shortsightedness.

At the Relay Bike Share Buckhead ribbon cutting, Livable Buckhead spoke that PATH400 will use this park to get from Peachtree Rd, over Lenox Rd and join back with existing trail.

As soon as January 2018, a phase that includes permitting, engineering, design, and environmental work is expected to launch.

By 2020, Atlantans should start seeing what officials have coined “ground-making” at the site, marked by a ceremony. That’s a spinoff of “groundbreaking,” being that no ground exists to break.

Then, as early as 2022 or 2023, project leaders expect a grand opening, unveiling the park for public use.

Any legislation would seek to change the state law that funds CIDs.
Current state law allows CIDs to assess property taxes on only commercial properties and use the proceeds to fund community improvements. If condo owners in the mixed-use developments that have proliferated across the city and region were taxed at the same rate as commercial properties, CIDs could reap a windfall of revenue and expand their programs.
As plans progress for a proposed 9-acre park above Ga. 400 at Peachtree Road, speculation is emerging that backers may seek to raise property taxes on condos to pay for the park’s construction and maintenance. Credit: inhabit.com
The logic is that the apartments, or owner-occupied condos, built in mixed use developments benefit from the CID-funded improvements just as much as commercial tenants. Therefore, the condos should be taxed just like the commercial areas of the buildings.
Is this the road to arjay's not sticking it to the little guy?

Wow, very shortsighted. When I'm driving by those shops on the interstate all I think is how much I do not want to be deal with all the traffic I would have to endure to get there. If there were a park with events and cool places to hang out, I could see myself going for the park and then heading to shops afterward.

It looks like you can go see the details this evening at the Buckhead theatre.

Public presentation Wednesday on BCID's vision for proposed park over GA 400 - BuckheadView
Very disappointing....Guess I won't be making any special trips to Buckhead anytime soon.

That loathsome shopping center has to go. I find myself making excuses not to go there.

I had forgot all about this project. Anyone know where they are on actually getting this thing built at this point? I haven't been to the Lenox area in awhile so if its in the construction phase I'm completely oblivious to it. I'm also with the complete cap crowd........I think in the end they will realize how shortsighted it was to build it this way. I completely understand the cost and regulation angle, but a big miss all the same IMO. Hopefully when they or if they ever do the stitch downtown they do it right.

Not as impressed as I initially was when this blew out the wind.....
