The proposal is located at where 85 heads south after it runs along with 285. There is currently an old quarry there.

I'm not subscribed to the biz journal which asks for a membership login to get the entire online story.
So, is it your understanding that this proposal, near a quarry, is next to I-85 & the north perimeter I-285 interchange area or near I-85 & the south perimeter I-285 interchange area? You wrote "..after it runs along with 285" so I suspect it is on the south side.
Unfortunaterly the 2 pix renderings do not make the specific location clear.

Yes, it's quite interesting indeed.
This project could be another sign of the reawakening of the south side.

Until it comes to the "state" for "Funding" to build it, Tax Breaks to Run it, A bail out to keep it running.

House racing tracks are failing across the US.

After a few years, they will be back asking for Slots to "help" build the money pool to get better race purses. After all Look at all the (Low wage) part time jobs that would be effected it we shut down..

That quarry is a MASSIVE hole in the ground. If you've ever seen it from the air when approaching ATL, it is mindblowing how huge and deep it is. If there weren't the row of pines abutting the south bound lanes of 85, drivers would freak that they were riding along so close to a straight drop.

I can't see how this could possibly come into being as the amount of rock/soil/earth to fill that hole would be ridiculous and I would think make it cost prohibitive. It would be awesome if something like this could reclaim that property, but it is literally a huge hole in the ground.

The only thing I can think of that makes this work is that lake is EXTREMELY deep....

FYI ... and somewhat curious: Chick-fil-A's headquarters is in the woods directly north of the quarry.
