Alas, I am ill - headache, scratchy throat, stuffy nose, achiness, etc.

I don't think it's the flu since I got the flu shot (though I could have a wild strain). It's more likely a cold virus.

My favorite thing to comfort myself with when I am feeling like this is Hot and Sour Soup. Now, normally I can get it at Golden Buddha on Clairmont and be satisfied. But, I thought since I now know about this wonderful resource that some of my fellow intowners could direct me to the BEST Hot and Sour Soup.

The spicier the better!

Thanks!

I've never had better hot & sour soup than Golden Buddha, and I've been looking for several years.

Yeah, I really like it, too, but I've only eaten at maybe 4 different "Chinese" restaurants since moving intown. So, I wondered if there was a better one out there.

If not, I can just pick some up when I leave work....

thanks for responding!

a little off topic, but I couldn't help responding...
p<.05, you and I seem to be running the same race this week! I was stricken with the same type of illness and while taking my son through a "national chain chinese food" drive through I thought I'd give the Hot and Sour soup a try. WOW! Loved it. Just wish we had more "local" restaurants to choose from. Chinese food just isn't something you get lots of in San Antonio! That soup sure hit the spot, though.
Hope you're feeling better - and thanks for the tip, I'll add it to my list for when I move to GA!!

Well you can always get chicken tortilla soup in SA and add jalapenos. I get my cold remedy Hot and Sour from General Joe's Chopstix next to SMU here in Dallas.

The best Chinese restaurant ever - and the best Hot and Sour soup I've ever had - is Grand China on Peachtree Rd. in Buckhead across from the Publix. I have been going there for about 20 years - simply the best in town!

Malaya at Collier + Howell Mill across the street from Post Apartments for the soup. Best Chinese restaurant in this city - my vote goes to Yen Jing north of Shallowford on Buford Highway.

Wow, thanks for all the tips. I got some Golden Buddha last night but I could go for more tonight because while I *think* the whole body symptoms are gone I am now cottonheaded and probably will be for the next week. Hot and Sour soup seems to clear it up for 20-30 minutes for some blessed relief!

Any spicey soup will do, really, though, so I am always game for suggestions.

djw, it sucks being sick, doesn't it? I don't get sick often - this is the first time in over 2 years - so I am big whiny baby when it happens.

hey, p<.05, I've had authentic gumbo @ Marriott in Alpharetta. Better than many restaurants in NOLA. Agree, hot & sour works wonders for colds, but sometimes you just want a steamy bowl of gumbo to soothe the soul.
