If the Falcons have a major increase in revenue maybe they can go ahead and pay off that $200 million in city bonds.

Soccer fans are super jealous of Merceds Benz Stadium. People keep saying it's not a soccer stadium lol. It can configure to a soccer mode and a football mode. I didn't like the idea of replacing the Georgia Dome when it was first announced, but now that we have MLS I'm excited both teams get to compete for the facility. It will home to both teams from the start.

I've heard that same sentiment from local fans. I think people are concerned that the stadium is so large compared to the fans that will be at the average game. May make for a less than electric atmosphere with big curtains hanging down. Hope not tho, we shall see

All the news is saying when the facility is in MLS mode it will feel and look like an MLS stadium. I've never been to an MLS stadium so I can't really say, but for a 1.5 Billion dollar tag I hope it can pull it off. I think the fear is home field advantage. If most of the league is playing in 20-25 thousand seat stadiums if United ever goes to the MLS playoff, Mr Blank will open the upper decks. That is a huge advantage. Heck I think even for the Opener against Orlando the upper decks tickets are for sale. So the question is when will it be MLS mode only vs NFL NCAA mode.

Seattle Sounders play in CenturyLink Field and are able to create a good atmosphere.

that doesn't look bad. But I've heard their fan base is pretty intense. Maybe that can happen here?

BTW, just drove by the new Stadium and saw they put a ramp in from COP Blvd directly down to the Gulch, when did that happen? Also, is MLK drive open now?

MLK will take a piece of Mitchell from what I can see. Which fan base are you referring too? On various forums what I am seeing is soccer fans have an issue with our grass. I am also seeing many comments that Blank got a pass simple because it was Atlanta and that Atlanta didnt earn their way into the league by supporting other local soccer teams. You mainly see this from fans whose teams existed prior to joining MLS. Im still trying to learn the game and the league, because quite honestly even though I come from a Caribbean family that loves soccer. I grew up to NFL and NBA. So its much about the MLS to learn. ATLUTD will be that chance.
