Here is a link to AJC's photo gallery of pictures around Atlanta in 1991. Being that I am not an original Atlantan (still not really, never lived in Fulton County), I find a lot of these photos to be very fascinating. A few photos I went and viewed on google maps to see how it currently looks versus in 1991. I hope you all find them to be quite appealing.

Nice. Thanks for that. That was the Atlanta I grew up with!

It's really hard to believe how much Atlanta has grown since then. I remember when 1991 was a big deal (You can write it backwards and it's still 1991!). My only time in Georgia was when I visited my newly married older sister in Acworth area in 1987. I saw nothing but her apartment complex (Waldan Pond). It was a real thrill walking through the pine trees to the pool area. Me being from a very tiny town in rural Virginia I had never seen a REAL apartment complex before. Pool, stairwells, balconies, grills, drink machines, etc. I remember thinking of all those Friday the Thirteenth movies because of walking through the woods, the pond in the back, the wooden walkways, and the trails everywhere connecting the complex. It reminded me of a campground resort almost, lol. Her and her new husband were going to take us to Lake Allatoona and to Six Flags (which I desperately wanted to do) but we had to leave.

That's my flashback memory for Friday! lol

My first time visiting Atlanta was in 1996 during the Olympics era as a teenager. We took a trip to Six Flags, Coca Cola, and Six Flags. I can remember having a blast at the Underground Atlanta and it was full of people. I never knew that 14 yearsl later I would end up being a resident in this area.

That would certainly make for an interesting first visit. Puts mine to shame! I enjoyed it but I had to sleep on the floor as my sister didn't have much furniture, lol. I've been thinking about living in the Atlanta area for years now. Since before my family moved from Va. to N.C. At least I'm getting closer! It was always such a boomtown and so much work. At one time it seemed everyone in my hometown was moving to Georgia, had a relative moving to Georgia, or knew someone who was moving to Georgia. Happily it seems things are improving. I plan to live in Atlanta eventually once I am able to buy real estate down there.

Just realizing that I put Six Flags twice, one should have said Stone Mountain.

Atlanta definitely stands out in my opinion as an American and international city as well. We haven't reached NYC/Chicago level of international but that continues to increase every year. Living here now, in 2016, is watching the city continue to explode in population, developments, and influence, and it's felt almost viscerally.

Without a doubt, it's an interesting time to live here. NC is only hours away you should come visit.
