Would you be angry to see these take over bike lanes, or welcome them?

I welcome them, as long as the user passes slower moving cyclists in the vehicle lane and announces there passing. I would not suggestion taking these wide open on the BeltLine. Honestly, I average just under 20 mph, which is what the Bolt gets in economy mode, but if this would get more people out of their private vehicles and onto transit or alternative transportation, then I support it.

I think in most areas, limiting it to 15-20 in bike lanes would be fine. Most bikes are traveling around that speed anyway, given the ground is flat. Up hill is different. I'm not sure how I feel about anything motorized using bike lanes, especially as more people start to use them. If I passed one of these in the bike lane every now and then, no biggie, as long as common courtesy is used. If this became more popular, and lots of people were using them, then I'd get concerned about safety in the small spaces that are our bike lanes.

Georgia law already allows for the operation of electric bikes in bicycle lanes and paths provided that the electric motor does not power the bike faster than 20 mph on level ground. So I don't see why this wouldn't be welcomed by other bike riders.

Aren't they essentially the same thing as scooters?

Scooters have an internal combustion engine and are not allowed in bike lanes, as they can travel above 20 mph. You keep pushing for scooters, but do you use one for transportation?

Electric scooters don't have the pedals that a bicycle, even an electric one, has. They are powered solely by the electric motor. A bicycle can be powered manually via pedals.

Well, I'm sort of lumping all lightweight powered two-wheelers together in terms of function. But maybe the differences are important.

Although I can't ride one now I have used them in the past. They are a nifty way to get around in a city and they blend in well with automobile traffic. That's probably why they are so popular in Asia, Europe and other parts of the world.
