Hello all. Reading other threads makes me feel like this is the place to get the best advice.
I am thinking of moving to Lithia Springs. Moving from Weston, FL I want a peaceful community (i.e. I don't care about night clubs and what not). Any recommendations as far as housing, or maybe some other town? I'm looking to get a new house (built 2000 or later) with 3 bedrooms at around $140K or so.
My current employer has an office in Lithia Springs which I can be transferred to so that's why that's my first option, but I guess anything that doesn't involve crossing the whole Atlanta is good.
I would like a forested/hilly area.
Oh, by the way, I'm 38 and single with no kids so don't really care about schools (though I'm not ruling out it might happen eventually)

This Craig's List link should bring up search results in the Lithia Springs area. Even though I live close to there, really, areas around there are hit and miss and maybe someone else can recommend specific areas once you find something you like. Most of the homes in your price range however are going to be older than 15 years old.

Link: atlanta craigslist > real estate for sale: search for "Lithia Springs" (http://atlanta.craigslist.org/search/rfs?query=Lithia+Springs&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max - broken link)

You can buy for that in the Lithia Springs/Douglas-Cobb area but be careful. For one many of the homes here were build very badly in the latter 80s and they are real money traps (things like rotting siding, leaking roofs and polybutelene plumbing that will cost thousands to replace. Have the house closely inspected before you sign anything. Also notice that Lithia Springs does not exist as a legal enity anymore. It ceased to exist a few years ago and is not just Douglas County and ripe for being gobbled up by the City of Douglasville which has annexed almost everything to the Cobb County line. So you will want to factor that in to any purchase you might make. That said this is a nice area and pretty safe. We have lived here for 9 years and had no trouble and the police here are quite aggressive at heading off trouble.

You may want to check out the Meadows at Brookmont in Douglassville. "http://www.meadowsatbrookmont.com" These homes are starting out at $140, worth taking a look. The community has higher priced homes as well.
Take a look at this link: "http://www.brookmontgeorgia.com/contact.asp"
This community is located near exit 36 off of Route 20 which is only a couple exits away from Lithia Springs (Exits 41 and 44). Close to Arbor Mall and Restaurants.

I recently moved to Lithia Springs and live in a subdivision called Sweetwater Creek right off of exit 44. This is a very quiet community. There are homes available starting at $160. The builder is Open Door Builders. "http://www.opendoorbuilders.com/community_details.php?comm_id=22"

There are alot of new subdivisions popping up on Camp Creek Parkway close to the airport. There is a new shopping complex called Camp Creek Marketplace with many shops, restaurants and is 15 minutes away from me in Lithia Springs. "http://campcreekmktplace.com/index.html" Pulte Homes has a subdivision there called Deerwood Reserve in your price range.
There are also other builders in the area.

I recommend that you rent and give yourself some time to explore your options before you purchase a home.

P. S. My apologies for the quotes, but I can't seem to get the links to appear properly.
