So I was once told to avoid Underground Atlanta after dark because the environment changes dramatically to something more dangerous, that was years ago and seems Atlanta has come a long way, was wondering if that is still the case?

I really wanna explore more of Atlanta, I am Georgia Native although I've lived in other states, I'm now back in Georgia and I have been drawn to big cities, Atlanta of course being the biggest in Georgia and one of the largest in the country if I remember right, so anyways that's all I got for now.

thanks!

At Night, hell even in the daytime. Only a couple restaurant and stores left. Everything has left as a buyer is preparing to revamp it soon.

I don't know if I'd be overly worried about wandering around Underground.

What would concern me is getting in and out because the area around it is terrible. Whether you are walking to a car in the parking lot or the MARTA station, I'd definitely be concerned.

Yeah it's still open my wife and I love to go to the Southern Candy shop during the holiday season. The funny thing is that when my friends and family come from out of town one of the first places they want to go is the Underground, I always warn them it's not this amazing place you think it is, lol.

I have been that part of town some recently. Walked through underground a couple of times in the last month. It is mostly just empty. Most of the shops seem to be closing up in expectation of the coming renovations / new owners.

I have to walk through the Underground area at night to catch the bus a couple times a week when I am downtown. It's always before 8:00, but dark out. I've never run into any issues. I think it can be perceived as sketchy, but again, I've never felt concerned. Look at the APD crime maps, there is actually less happening in that area in terms of crime than parts of Midtown.
