So... it's an even more expensive Starbucks? Just what I was missing!
Lol. I'll never go, but there are many people who are willing to pay twice the price for something "exclusive". It's midtown, so, I'm sure this place will get good business.
I'll continue being a commoner on a budget! I just go to Starbucks when they have half-priced frappuccinos

Good grief, if you don't like the idea, don't go there! It's not dragging the city down or causing any problems.

This isn't really exclusive anyway. Starbucks is planning to open 1400 of them, according to the article. The difference is that the coffee is roasted onsite and for coffee aficionados, freshness is key. This is Starbucks' answer to the small, artisan roasters that have sprang up around the country.

Why do you often have such negative posts? You come on to every thread to complain about other people. Why do you care if someone wants to spend $5 on coffee? Why do you care if someone wants to live in a condo downtown with high HOAs? Why do you care if someone wants to live car free in the city? Why do you complain about another burger joint opening in town? Why does it matter if someone else wants to walk to the grocery store? None of these things affect you in any way. You spend your money on what you want, and let other people enjoy the things they like. You have some great and insightful posts on this forum, but then you have these negative and judgmental posts. I don't mean this to be an attack, I'm just honestly curious about what your goals are for posts like that. I don't get it.

In this instance, I care because it sets a poor example for impressionable young people like my children. I do not want them thinking that spending $4 or $5 dollars on coffee is not only reasonable but something that they believe they deserve.

The rest of your questions I will leave to your imagination.

As someone who likes to try different coffee varieties, I might check this place out. It's really not much different than wine bars for wine connoisseurs or brew pubs for beer fans. Since I usually stick with a basic cup of coffee (instead of the expensive dessert-type coffees these places offer), I don't think it will put much of a dent in my wallet.

The kids will probably stick with the sickly sweet drinks at regular Starbucks locations.

If I'm not mistaken, the Ansley Square Starbucks tested this concept, serving these types of coffees at their side bar. I liked the coffee and I don't recalling it being all that pricey.
