I'll be at a conference at the Georgia World Congress Center mid April. Any suggestions for a "relatively" nice hotel, that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I'm out of pocket here.....

Maybe a better question is, because I'm not familiar with the Atlanta area, and hotels downtown will cost me an arm and a leg, what area outside of downtown is still relatively convenient to downtown?

If downtown hotels are high just a hotel 20 mins away in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody and take the train to the convention

There are a lot of good hotels around downtown that range in price. You can find about any hotel brand with a location there. So just look for one with a price point that fits what you had in mind.

Usually they are just as affordable as anywhere. But if not, as fieldm pointed out, look at options along the MARTA line near other areas of town like Midtown, Buckhead, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs.

Another approach is to get a hotel around the airport and take the MARTA train in. Downtown hotels are expensive while the airport ones are cheaper.

Maybe give us a few within your busget and we can provide feedback. If you take a PP's advice to stay near airport the new Marriott brands on the new airport train are new and nice. You wouldn't venture out at night there though.

Priceline.. Use bidding for travel to check out the latest bids. Usually about 40 to 50% off the list price. The only bad thing is you cannot control which hotel.

Or use priceline and click Express Deals. I see hotels in the 3-3.5* range for $140/night (including taxes and all) for the week of 4-11 through 15. Going down to the airport will save you about $50 a day though.

Keep in mind parking at downtown hotels is expensive (figure $30/day), so you're not avoiding a parking cost by staying downtown instead of the airport.

Really treat yourself: Club Floor, Ritz Carlton.

Okay... Just kidding!
