Same goes for the Falcons. They would certainly deserve that fate.

I'm not a Braves fan and don't care where they play. The Braves desperately needed to restock their farm system and have done an excellent job on that front. However, the short-term price for doing so is having a AAA quality MLB team. It's the right move in the long-term but sucks for fans presently. The 2015 Phillies went through the same process including firing an ineffective manager and they were every bit as bad as the 2016 Braves. I think the timing of this crap season was largely preordained, but Liberty no doubt preferred to rip the band-aid off during a lame duck season at the Ted rather than in their inaugural season at Sun Trust. The Braves need to make sure that they make a good decision hiring their next manager. There's a good amount of talent in the Braves farm system for the next manager to work with.

As he exits, Garrison Keillor skewers Atlanta Braves

Quote:
As a farewell present to Atlanta, before a packed Fox Theatre audience on Saturday, Keillor thwarted the move of the Braves to Cobb County. Fictionally, anyway.

‘Twas in its “Guy Noire: Private Eye” skit that the weekly variety show took aim at the ball club’s decision to abandon Turner Field, “one of the most beautiful ball parks in the history of baseball,” in favor of “an ugly new field in the midst of miles of shopping malls and office park.

“I’m talking about Cobb County, the northern suburbs that have no public transportation to speak of – just freeways that turn into parking lots,” says one of the characters who hire Noire/Keillor to sabotage the move across the Chattahoochee.

“These fiscal conservatives who pay school teachers in paper clips have ponied up half a billion dollars….so the Braves can leave a fine old ballpark and move a few miles north,” said actor Tim Russell in something approximating a Southern accent. And yes, the word “blasphemy” was used.

Is it because you're a masochist? It just hurts so good.

Interesting piece from the AJC on Braves money, public parks, and the possibility of another tax increase to pay for an existing park bond. There're also tidbits on Park Atlanta, but that's neither here nor there.

Please don't shoot the messenger.

More here too: Cobb County spent all its money on Braves stadium, doesn’t have enough left for public parks | Field of Schemes

A quote from the article:

"It’s worthwhile to note that this isn’t just a case of the county spending general revenue on the stadium and having none left over for parks, which would be bad enough; rather, the county actually redirected tax revenue that had been earmarked for public parks to pay for the stadium bonds, even though the park project was approved by voters, and the stadium never was. "

That is why I am currently pissed off at Mr. Lee and others. WTF??

Exactly, you and any thinking citizen should not be ok with this process. The Braves moving to Cobb will always be a shady deal. Tim Lee has got to go
