Sounds like the wise heads decided to fix this mistake before anyone got harmed.

I guess Cobb at least deserves credit for being big enough to admit they goofed.

Yeah A for good effort, wtf?
Did the commissioners even read the language before voting? Why are these people even in office if they can't bother to read the language of the ordinance before casting a vote?

It's run like everything else these days: reactionary. They don't have the foresight to think more than "what do the lawyers tell us?"

"goofed" is being pretty polite. They didn't pass the ordinance on accident. It didn't get in front of the commission for consideration by accident; one of them brought it to the table. You've sort of got to admit in this situation that:
A) The commissioners who voted for it are just incompetent and never bothered to even read the ordinance before passing it.
- OR -
B) They understood the ordinance and it's potential impacts, but voted for it anyways.

The optics on either of those options isn't great for a body that has promised nearly half a billion taxpayers dollars to a private company without a referendum.

Politicians. "We have to pass the bill before we can find out what's in it."

At least they caught it before any harm was done.

Yep. Glad it is getting corrected.

Props to the businesses/ land owners to standing up and making it an issue rather than settling for the Braves / Lee's suggestion of them being offered preferential treatment.

Please shut up... You are ALWAYS giving credence to stupidity and willful ignorance of impractical policymakers and development...

This was a half-page ordinance, not a multi-thousand page federal bill.
