51,220 at Turner tonight. The highest attendance the Braves will see for a long, long time.

I was kind of sad when they tore down the original Atlanta Fulton county stadium.

Talk about some memories -- Hank Aaron hitting no. 715, the 1995 World Series victory, the 1996 series vs the Yankees, Sid Bream chugging around third to win the 1992 NLCS. Seems like a million years ago but only yesterday.

I'm not going to lie, it was the best Braves game I've been to in a LONGGGG time. The game was good, but I think what made it a great time was the energy of having that many fans in the stadium again. I wish we had some better team owners that supported this city, and drew out that kind of crowd more often. It made the game day experience way better than any restaurants and apartments outside of the stadium could. It will be a good memory to have watched the last pitch ever at a winning game at Turner Field.

Well considering suntrust park will only hold 43k, I'd say we won't see that attendence ever

He knows. I think he thought he was being clever, while taking a passive-aggressive shot at the Braves over his hurt feelings.

There has to be a place for Braves legend Walter Banks at SunTrust | Mark Bradley blog

Quote:
Doubtless you know him as the Atlanta Braves’ legendary usher and best ambassador. You probably know that Walter worked the Braves’ first exhibition game in 1965 at the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. You’ve seen him on TV, I’m sure, and this year’s farewell to Turner Field featured his photo in print and online ads. Heck, he even delivered the final “Play Ball!” on Sunday.

As it stands, Walter isn’t sure he’ll be able to work at SunTrust Park next year. He’s 77. He lives downtown. He doesn’t like to drive after dark. He took MARTA to Sunday’s farewell game. He takes MARTA to Georgia Tech and the Georgia Dome and the College Football Hall of Fame. (He has standing gigs at all three.) But the Braves, I feel safe in saying, are the team of his heart.

...

As we know, Cobb County is a MARTA no-go zone. I know connections with Cobb County Transit exist, but I’m not sure they’d be do-able for someone whose working day might end at 11 p.m. I’m not sure they’d be feasible for Mr. B. Neither is he...

If Ted Turner was still the owner, he could care about someone with as much history with the team as Walter Banks, but Liberty Media is too big to care of even know who he is.

It would be nice if the fans he serves would chip in. Then maybe get about matching grants from the players, or at least the ones making $2 million and up. The Braves organization could kick in some, too.

It honestly wouldn't take that much. Say $20 per game round trip from the Arts center station via uber and the gentleman wouldn't have to drive at all.

That's $1600 for the entire season. Get $500 from his fans, $500 from the players and $600 from the Braves. Sounds pretty doable.

Negative sentiments aside . . . he was actually recognized during the final game last night, so they pretty clearly "know who he is".

How much money does Liberty Media make from owning the Braves? They can foot the entire bill.
