The dog parks here are unbelievably nice. Make a note to check out Dunwoody's dog park called Brook Run.

It's a solid thirty mins. from our house, but we trek out there every Sat. It's fun. Super nice people, nice dogs, great room to run. *Brook Run Dog Park - Home

I've been impressed with how dog friendly Atlanta is.

Welcome! If you settle in the city, check out Parkgrounds in Reynoldstown. It's a coffee shop, café, and bar that's got a small dog park attached to it. Great neighborly vibe, with a patio where you can relax and let the pup play.

.
I've been meaning to try out Park Grounds, but I kept forgetting the name. Glad you posted.

OP, I think almost every place I have been in the US is dog friendly. Atlanta definitely has leash laws that are enforce in most of the metro. I have seen a stray or two in some areas though, but it is a rare occurrence.

You will likely not be able to take your dog to work here no matter how well trained it is. There are lots of parks in general here and quite a few dog parks. If you are moving to an apartment, then some of them (not most) hae dog parks on the property. If you are moving to a house, then look for one with a fenced yard.

What breed is your dog? Sometimes breed and size are restricted based on where you plan to live so check that out. Other than that, there really should be no problems.

You can also check out Dog Friendly Restaurants in Atlanta, GA, US for places that are dog friendly in the area.

@joinga
Thanks for that. That's something I'm in the habit of doing when I go into a store on an errand so I probably would have done that without knowing. Otherwise, I never leave her outside on her own.

I'll check out Brook Run Alley, maybe I'll bump into you there!

Parkgrounds - got it - I love dog-friendly places
@ellekaye
Thanks for all the info I'll be living in a place called Buckhead, there's a large fenced garden apparently.
My girl is a German Shepherd.

I imagine that you need not worry or behave any differently than you do at home. Just keep Fido on a leash (unless, of course, you are in a dog park). Folks here tend to like dogs. Some of us tend to adore them!

Woof!

Don't worry., You and your girl will be fine here. German Shepherds are quite a popular breed. Buckhead is a nice area with a fenced yard then you really have nothing to worry about.

There are some stores that are dog-friendly. I have seen dogs in Home Depot and, of course, the pet supply stores, like Petsmart, Petco, etc.
