Its almost like having the Braves demand for ample parking held the area back.

So glad the braves left. Those parking lots were holding back progress.

New pocket neighborhood coming to Ormewood Park
Quote:
Across Vernon Avenue from Beulah Heights University and backing up to the Glenwood Green Townhomes, a venture called “Vernon” is slated to be a pocket neighborhood at the intersection of Vernon Avenue and Berne Street, two blocks up from the Beltline’s future Southside Trail.

Developed by David Smith with Oak Hall Development and TerraCraft Homes, the community will feature 20 larger single-family residences, cottages, and attached homes (duplexes) in a horseshoe layout.

The three- and four-bedroom homes will range between 1,500 and 2,500 square feet, with prices from the $500,000s to $700,000s, reps tell Curbed Atlanta.

HOA fees will be $125 per month, which covers such expenses as street lights, association management services, landscaping of common areas, and property and liability insurance for common areas.

Looks like this neighborhood was already started a while ago. Google Satellite shows the roads and houses under construction, oddly circling around an existing house. Good location, and decent sized houses. But $125 a month for a SFH neighborhood with no amenities seems awfully high.

How so?

Looks they made a mint on the sale of the land at least.

There was a huge group of workers outside the iffy grocery on Friday. It looked like they were surveying possibly? I've noticed that the property was taken off loopnet. Anyone got any new info?

Home
This spot, and hundreds of acres around it, is one that I've been pointing to for years as a no-brainer for big development. Just across the tracks are acres upon acres of towed-car storage and container storage. Manage to buy up just a little land to the north, and you have yourself a linear mixed-used development feeding directly onto the Beltline.
