Are you kidding? Cagle might as well be one of bloomberg's mommiez! Impeach that moron too.
The people?! WHAT people?! Not the ones who actually OCCUPY these college campuses -- not the students, not the faculty, not the presidents ... and not the USG Board of Regents nor the USG Chancellor who are legally responsible for safely operating our colleges and universities and are liable for the ultimate safety of those campuses.

"The people" spoke loud and clear all right -- and Gov Deal heard them and responded appropriately.

Exactly. Gun nut loons residing in the state, and a loony legislature, does not equal "the people".

In any case, the purpose of the veto is not to appease "the people", it's the part of the system of checks and balances where the popular-elected Governor, the head of the state, applies his/her own good judgment, if a law that the assembly passes is in the best interests of the state, or in this case not.

Both of these vetoes were simply him doing his job, correctly. If you don't want to get a veto, quit passing unneeded, ridiculous crap legislation.

Only law-abiding citizens are affected by this.

A fortunately small, but unfortunately loud minority.

So the only people whose opinion matters are the ones on campus? Yea, that's not how it works. You're also ignoring the fact that the news only focused on a handful of loudmouths.

No, he VETOED it, meaning it WILL NOT be law despite the vast majority of people in the state supporting it so he DID NOT respond appropriately.

See above, most people in Georgia wanted this, maybe because we're tired of seeing college students gunned down, robbed, beaten, and unable to do anything but hope the assailants don't mind leaving witnesses.

Who said appease? The job of the government is to ADVANCE the will of the people. Something that didn't happen here, thus the government failed.

So how many more dead college students do you want in the morgue? Do you own a funeral home near a big campus or something?

2016 Deal is someone I can like.

He would have passed it had the legislature actually just listened to him and not ignorantly ignored his request outright, but whatever it takes I suppose.

Who cares what other stupidity they come up with. It appears Deal has grown a pair since he is no longer subject to the whims of the voters and has decided to do the right thing rather than cave to the extreme right wing of his Party.

The Governor of North Carolina not so much.
