DMUs & non-rapid buses did the worst in that prescreening, and so LRT, BRT, and Streetcars were evaluated in detail.
Great find.

DMU makes sense for the NW Belltine which is active freight. Just add a track to that baby and negotiate shared usage. That also allows a line from Moores Mill (or maybe Cobb), to Armour, via Silver Comet spur track and NW Beltline.

And break the continuous loop. Cool.

It doesn't need to be a continuous loop. If you're going to the other side of town, you're not going to go all the way around the Beltline to get there.

Thanks, fourthwarden!

In view of that, you have to wonder why the mayor wants open this up again.

Maybe she just wants to give people options?

Probably because she hasn't read it and fails to understand urban transit.

The continuous loop isn't for cross-town trips, no, but what about the in-between trips that aren't easily reached by the other routes or existing heavy rail?

What about people coming from the Westside Reservoir, or the new Bankhead developments, and going to Berkley Park? What about people going from Berkley Park to Westview?

You're going to force a transfer, all so we can what? Spend just about as much money as we would otherwise building out a very short DMU line rather than just completing the full LRT loop?

People were given options, and the professionals evaluated the results of technical work and the people's responses. Light Rail & Streetcars were the resulting choice.

Don't you yourself fuss about how we never seem to get anything done? Reopening an already settled decisions, when work has already been done in large sections based on that decision, is just going to drag things out even more.

The mayor is the one suggesting we re-open this can of worms, not me.

Do you agree with her on that?

Because she is uneducated as why LRT was chosen and has not done her research why it was chosen.
