Stupid Atlanta.
That intersection has funding to be 'straightened'

Also, I would rather see the Campbellton LRT line be BRT or ART instead of LRT, but I know politically it was added so that not all the LRT lines are in the 'white areas.'

Very excited!

Some good bus improvements on there. Infill stations, LRT lines. Looks like they have a pretty complete list of projects on there.

A few minor concerns:

-As noted, BRT getting of I-20 onto Bill Kennedy Way is a terrible idea. They should just built a station under the BKW bridge and stay on I-20.

-Inman / Reynoldstown station needs pedestrain improvements!

-Disappointed LRT down through Turner Field area didn't make this cut.

Use the additional ROW by removing 1 lane from the Boulevard ramps.

As does Edgewood/Candler Park

Have Carter and GSU pay for it.
Answers in bold.

I have said it before and I'll say it again:

If the business community truly supports mass transit they need to get on board with funding it in a big way.

It is crazy to stick the burden on the little man to pay for enhancements to the rich man's property.

How much will big corporations benefit from mass transit? Gazillions.

How much are they paying for it?

As we have told you countless times before, the little guy will still pay for it when they use that business.

The bus improvements map shows ART going down that way, with a Greenbriar transit center, so I don't think it'll be an issue.

If anyone was simultaneously the most likely and least likely to fund streetcar expansion, I'd think it would be GSU. On one hand, the state would probably not want to fund transit in Atlanta. On the other, GSU has a direct interest in the health of its host city, and in how well its employees and students can get around. I wouldn't be surprised if they went the panther shuttle route if asked to pay for some of the transit, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they helped out.

That's not exactly the way it works.

Georgia state is a perfect example of why big business (and institutions) need to be heavily involved in funding.

Not only is all their property already tax exempt, but mass transit will greatly enhance its value when they decide to dispose of some of it.

In addition it's a great tool for recruiting workers and students.

They will also have to build fewer parking decks and they will be able to develop their property with greater density.

And to again address the argument that they simply directly pass through any investment in mass transit -- are they going to raise tuition by the amount they spend on transit funding? No. Are they going to cut salaries in that amount? No. That's simply not the way business works. Prices and profits are subject to a huge number of variables and large businesses take them into account and spread them out in extremely diverse and complex ways. If the cost of wax paper goes up, you don't see Mickey D's raising the price of cheeseburgers.
