Regardless what happens, this section will always be a 6 mph bottleneck because it was poorly planned and not give it's own right of way.

Pathetic planning will make this a weak point of any expanded system. Simply adding length doesn't solve the problems of this planning fail.

Looks to me like the business community is getting off scot free on the MARTA tax (both the original and this latest increase) and that the whole thing is put on the little man.

Who can least afford it.

They could make this better by making Edgewood and Auburn one way. Take a lane out for transit along with a complete street makeover would be a pretty nice upgrade. Streetcars operate in more congested situations around the world.

This. Not usually a fan of one-way streets but I am when one of the lanes can be better put to use for transit.

On Auburn Ave it would be a little weird though, with the street parking on the other side of the track:

Same on Edgewood as well.

Unless they got rid of the street parking on that side, which would probably be a good idea, if possible. Since those parking spots have been the cause of streetcar difficulties and incidents.

Give the space over to the cyclists or Trees Atlanta. Either are a more productive use of space than parking sandwiched between the curb and a transit lane.

Local businesses would be up in arms.

Does anyone know if we can specifically expect to see increased rail frequency? I know they've mentioned increased bus frequency, but increased rail frequency would be nice too. The rush hour trains are getting super packed, which is a good thing, but I think we're ready for even more frequency during rush hour. It would also be nice to have increased frequency on nights and weekends.
