FYI - We are talking about the "peach" on top of the IBEW building south of I-20, not the building on Peachtree: Downtown Atlanta Olympics-Era Peach Tower Taken Down

Oh, oops. I was hoping they took down the one in Midtown. Which I had heard was being renovated, or something going on there.

I guess they took down this one, then:

Same ugly thing as the other one. Now just take the other one down.

I kinda like the giant peach that greets you as you enter the city in Midtown. I wish it would be restored. I feel like I remember that the circular ad under the peach used to spin as a whole as the ads flipped. As a kid I thought it seemed futuristic.

The Peachoid in Gaffney, SC is better anyway.

Thank you for clarifying. Was hoping they might have been talking about the one in midtown, as well.

Certainly can't miss it! I just wish they hadn't allowed a restaurant to be built right in front of it.

I didn't like that location for it, but it could look cool somewhere different. Its kind of our symbol and should be displayed somewhere prominent. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it where it was.

Hopefully it will reappear elsewhere.

That peach used to look just like a bare butt. Years ago, they added a leaf over the crack so it wasn't so buttish anymore.

I agree. Put it somewhere else... It's not easy on the eyes but it's iconic imo. A lot of people see that thing.

Amusing that the author of the Atlanta Business Chronicle article thinks that this area is Midtown.

'Ugly' peach removed from atop building near Downtown Connector

Quote:
The big metal peach installed atop the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers building during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta is gone.

The building is in Midtown near the Downtown Connector.
