Well if art solidified a city's sophication in the middle age, moreover; if music is that new measure of art, Atlanta is surely well on its way as one of the music festival capital of the world. Shaky knees was last weekend and now Shaky beats.

Shaky Beats Festival

Shaky Beats Festival
Is this different from Shaky Knees?

It would be nice to see these festivals draw a more diverse crowd.

Completely different. Shaky Knees focuses on alternative and indie rock. It's become recognized as one of the best music festivals in the country. This is the first year for Shaky Beats.

I see your point about the lack of diversity in the crowd, but the festival doesn't try to be everything to everyone. It's a rock 'n roll festival. You can't force people who aren't into modern rock to go.

I thought it was a housequake at first.

Atlanta does have quite a number of festivals not just music related, and I do find then enjoyable.

It depends on what you consider a music festival and what type of music festival are you interested in. There are concerts which call themselves music festivals, there are huge concerts for 2-3 days which call themselves music festivals, there are week-long "music festivals" that have dozens of artist performing 5 days a week and they call themselves a music festival even though it doesnt have one big show, you have food festivals that also call themselves music festivals, etc
