Hi. I'm new to Atlanta.

Given the mild climate, one would expect a lot of fountains. There are obviously beautiful water features in Olympic Park and the waterfall in Woodruff Park is great, but are there others? I know of Margaret Mitchell Square and the water feature in Sun Trust Plaza.

Midtown doesn't seem to have any.

This city's nice weather warrants outdoor plazas with fountains to relax by.

Yes, we should have fountains all over the place.

There is a beautiful waterfall at Fourth Ward Park.

And if you are dining or visiting Inman Park, just outside Bread and Butterfly, there is a fountain at Inman Quarter. It is a lovely surprise. Inman Park Village has a pond too and check out Spingvale Park too (but it is being renovated) On the Grid :: Springvale Park, Inman Park, Atlanta

What would be cool is a bunch of artificial lagoons, throughout the city.

Anything that's undeveloped or blighted, just dig it out, enclose it, fill it in with water, and make it a saltwater public lagoon for city residents. Dozens of them everywhere. The Gulch area downtown would be a well-placed large lagoon, with the stadiums overlooking.

Atlanta will likely never have a major water feature, so it could compensate with a ton of small ones.

Sorely lacking, but they are around here and there.

Did you know that the inside of the Westin hotel downtown used to have great water features?

Piedmont Park has Lake Clara, a manmade lake. Atlantic Station has a pond in the common area. Glenwood Park also has a pond. There is a small fountain at the corner of Piedmont Ave. and 15th St. There is a fountain in Hurt Park that doesn't seem to work anymore. Grant Park also has the magnificent Milledge Fountain and reflecting pool which has fallen into disrepair. I agree, there should be more. Despite the lack of any natural water around the central city, there could be more manmade ones.

This fountain is currently being restored and made to work again as a feature of the park. Phase I (the front) should be done fairly soon, while Phase II for the reflecting pool area will be next. The work on the area surrounding the fountain is already complete. In addition, the Erskine Fountain at the south end of the park is also being restored and will hopefully work again in the coming months.

ALLRIIIIIIGT! I just learned about this fountain not long ago as I read about Grant Park's history. I had read that a restoration was being studied but didn't know it had started! Excellent news. This fountain is magnificent. Looks like something you'd see in Rome. Sadly, it doesn't mention a restored reflecting pool. It says a stage and "classroom" will be behind the fountain. Shame as I thought the reflecting pool was the best feature...
