Hi all! My husband and I are in the area house hunting and have come across Seven Hills in Dallas. It looks like the specific address we are interested in feeds into Abney Elementary. Can anyone tell me about Abney personally? We have been looking in West Cobb county for the good schools but haven't found what we want in a neighborhood and lot. We LOVE the amenities and a large private lot we found in Seven Hills but concerned about the schools. Its rated a 7, I know its not all about the ratings so would love to hear personal experiences! Or of any other master planned communities anywhere in the north atlanta area with good schools! Thanks so much!

Welcome to the tri-counties area, as it used to be known, even though it's really four counties.

Seven Hills has a Dallas address but it closer to Acworth, and Acworth hit's all 4 counties, Cobb, Paulding, Bartow, and Cherokee. You'll be in Acworth much more than in Dallas.

If you want the best of the best, then you need to be in the Harrison or Allatoona HS districts and their feeder schools. This area started building up in the late 80's to early 2000's. That being said, Cedarcrest is the newest and latest development over the last decade. They built the new North Paulding HS that is fed by Seven Hills, Bentwater, etc. all new developments. I'm sure those schools will be fine in that area. I have several friends that moved into these n-hoods.

At 37, and a lifelong Acworth resident, North Cobb alumni, and Georgia Tech alumni, I'm not one of these people who think your kids need to be in the best schools. If that is a priority for you, then for elementary, your kid would need to be in Ford elementary as it's the only STEM elementary school. And if you still wanted STEM, then you'd want to look at Kennesaw Mountain HS. In Cobb, you don't have to live in the HS district to attend a STEM school, just need transportation. Still, that area in Paulding should be fine for schools.

Thanks for your input! Looks like he will be attending Abney Elementary in Dallas. We took a quick tour and I was thrilled to see that they actually have STEM as well! Although thte huge size is a little scary but it seemed to be a great school from first look!
