From my experience, I guess it really depends on the area. Here in Woodstock, at least in the Towne Lake area, it appears to be overwhelmingly upper middle class white. But just 15 minutes south of here, in Kennesaw and Marietta, there seems to be much more diversity (Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Arabs, Indians, etc)

I think it depends on your perspective. If you're coming from NYC, LA, San Francisco, Boston, DC, Miami, etc. then you probably wouldn't think so. If you're coming from Nashville, Birmingham, Greenville, Chattanooga, etc., then you might think so.

I agree with the consensus in that it depends on you and your idea of diversity. I will state though that I do feel there is much more diversity in one's career/work life than in their personal life in Atlanta for the most part, but I also feel that depends on the person and his/her social network.

I have always worked in diverse environments and had a variety of co-workers from all over. I worked with plenty of all sorts of people and we got together after work as well on occasion.

However, I never really thought that Atlanta was extremely diverse, but it is more diverse than many other cities in the country IMO.

Melting pot yes, different ethnicities coming together, not really.

Our country is more divided than ever.

The races do come together here and anyone who tells you different aren't hanging out with the right people. Atlanta is very accepting to different races in most communities and we all hang out together. That doesn't mean every neighborhood is like that but most are. You can't be as integrated as Atlanta is and find mass segregation, we're just too connected for that to happen. (Exceptions to that would be the higher income communities which tend to be mostly Ehite and Asian or Black.)

I honestly don't see Nashville on the same level as these Cities, much bigger and more going on, especially from my experiences. It may not be as diverse as Atlanta but not too far behind with the way Nashville is growing.

Forsyth County, while still predominantly white, is certainly evolving as well. Here is a 2011 article discussing it's multi-racial / ethnic evolution. I feel sure that the racial / ethnic composition is even more diverse today - five years after this article. I continue to be surprised by its evolution. Before moving here, I was a bit concerned about just this issue, but have been pleasantly surprised by what I have seen and experienced.

The subject here is diversity, not size and "what's going on." Nashville is in the same boat as those cities as far as diversity goes for the most part....much closer to them than to Atlanta.

Te only reason Atlanta is getting more diverse is because many who have moved to North Fulton, Forsyth, Northern Gwinnett, East Conyers, Douglasville, etc has moved so far out with a 1hr+ commute already, they cant really move any further out with out a even more insane commute, so as other races move in they just accept it and adjust.

I remember in the 90's after I passed hwy 124 in snellville on the 78, I was the only person of color for miles and the same for many other parts of the metro as well, but now all of those area have a much better mix.

I agree with you on Forsyth and will also mention that Vine City, the person who you quoted also mentioned and it is not as lacking in diversity as many would think either. I was involved in the NPU for that area and met a lot of non-black residents of both Vine City and English Avenue.
