Oh c'mon. I walk 1.5 miles to my office on campus during the semester (and usually do more for exercise). I walked over 3.5 yesterday in the heat. Even I don't want to walk 1.3 for a game. Especially at night afterwards (that goes for any location, not picking on the area). From here and here, anything past 1/2 to 3/5 miles from a station and walkers decrease dramatically. The dome has basically 2 MARTA stations one of which bears its name. Phillips Arena as well. That's convenient and is typically closer than parking and traversing the parking lots.

On a smaller scale, Gwinnett went through the same thing with Coolray Field. It's a nice place, but it is half-empty most of the time. I don't have the numbers but I am sure that both the literal and figurative ROI on that deal is practically non-existent.

Probably on the advice of the attorney he hired to help him circumvent the vox populi.

Had you people allowed the GA-400 to I-675 project to be completed in the 1970s, Atlanta's most important road (the Downtown Connector) would not be a parking lot every single day. All to save a moderately interesting neighborhood, Virginia-Highlands. And even the idea that Va-Hi would have been ruined by the expressway is laughably false. Buckhead has thrived after 400 was built right through it.

The biggest irony of it is that Virginia-Highlands is now being abandoned by the cool people in favor of other neighborhoods.
What the hell are you talking about? And it's Virginia-Highland, not Virginia-Highlands.

That is because the Dome followed the idea of building a stadium near existing transit, unfortunately AFCS could not do this because rail system did not exist and Olympic Stadium was built at it's current location because of cheap land.

MARTA had planned to build a "Southeast Branch" out to Carver Homes as part of the 1971 Referendum Plan and would've included a stop at AFCS, but it was killed due to projected low ridership and lack of funding.

They did royally screw the pooch with COS/The Ted though.

And transit experts will tell you ridership drops off dramatically if you make people walk over 1/4 mile to the stop. Doesn't even have to be "laziness." People want to use their time efficiently.

Actually, rail stations have a 1/2 mile walking distance, while lower quality transit like buses have a 1/4 mile. But Professional Sports Stadiums will attract peds from a 1/2 mile as well, so if we add the 1/2 mile from rail station to the 1/2 mile from stadium parking, we end up with a total that makes it completely acceptable to walk from GA State Station to the Ted. 1/2 mile from GA State Station puts visitors at the the Blue/Orange Lots.

The Braves move was a horrible unplanned decision, and what makes it worse is that they kept it from the public.
Your first paragraph seems to say that he should make decisions regardless of what his constituents want.

Your second paragraph seems to vilify him for doing precisely that.

You can't have it both ways.

He didn't do that. That's the whole point. The people want transit. Just because they don't attend meeting doesn't mean thry don't exist.
