If that's the case, perhaps they should move to the Northwest or far Northeast.

Maybe if religious zealots didn't block access to sex-ed and contraception, then you'd get better results.

Isn't it a little ironic considering American blacks are the most religious group on the United States? I can't tell you how rare it is for me to find another black atheist or agnostic here in the Atlanta area.

religion has nothing to do with it; ponder that if you will.

Conclusion

At the level of states in the U.S., conservative religious beliefs predict teen birth rates highly and significantly; the correlation remains high and significant after controlling for income and estimated rates of abortion.
Source: Religiosity and teen birth rate in the United States

Of course correlation does not mean causation, but to say religion has nothing to do with premarital pregnancies (in this case, I represent teen pregnancy, which I feel is a fair substitute for the point), is simply to be blind to reality.

Religious conservatism generally makes it hard for teens to access contraception, accurate sexual education, and even medical support to handle STDs and unwanted pregnancies.

Of course all of this is getting off topic, but so is bringing in 'sin'.

We have a death penalty but still a lot of murder so I can't agree with your conclusion.

I think education and rehabilitation are more effective and beneficial to a society than incarceration.
