Hello,

I am a single mother of three African American boys and I am looking to relocate to Georgia along the outskirts of Atlanta. I come to this forum to possibly get some help/insight on cities/counties that are diverse with races and also places that have great neighborhoods and great schools to raise my boys. If anyone could give me some helpful information or helpful resources/links, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

In what part of the Atlanta metro area (city and/or county) is your place of employment located?

What do you define as outskirts? For some people on this board, anything past Buckhead is the outskirts, for others outskirts is out past Buford or Acworth, etc.

Outskirts is commonly used among Indigenous Black Americans (especially in the American South) to mean "suburban/non city-like/woodsy, open but not-too-country" areas.

Really? I grew up around a lot of black people and I thought it was used to mean the areas right next to the city...I would even say any area that borders the city would be considered the outskirts.

Also, do you mind posting what your budget is and what kind of home you're looking for?

I agree with this too. Outskirts really meaning a suburb. But when someone is referring to the Atlanta, they often mean "the beautiful, country parts of Atlanta."

When you say diverse, do you mean you want to be exposed to many different cultures and languages, or just that you want to make sure there are other black people around? Every suburb has plenty of African Americans, but some are more diverse than others.i
